AskardBr
Hi, I`m currently doing an ocean scene on houdini Indie and I`m having some problems with the "export to texture" part. If I have a resolution exponent of 10, my displacement maps will be 1024 x 1024. If I increase it to 12 for the amount of details that I need, the maps will be 4096 x 4096. However, if the maps are set to this big, when I click Render ( in the export to texture tab), nothing happens. I only get the displacement maps exported if they are 1024 x 1024. Any reasons why? Is there any way to solve this? Thanks
Jason
I might be wrong, but I thought you could render RAT format files at high resolutions without issues, for this exact reason. Well, with Mantra... But I suppose this is coming through COPS, so you may be out of luck...
sebkaine
i'm afraid you're stuck to 1080*1080 in indie but not 100% sure. however to work with textures procedurally and be able to bake a 4096*4096 i will investigate substance designer. you have a indie version with very attractive formula. and that might be the tool you need for proceduralism / bake of 4K texture. acey195
or you could just render 4 textures and stitch them together, if you only have to do this occasionally
Whatsinaname
If I remember correctly, it was possible to set the file format of the texture node to an equivalent nc (non- commercial) version, so you could create larger textures. Should be anywhere on the forum, just search for it.
Mandrake0
on the indie version you have to change the setup: Node Ocean_preview > Export to Texture > Save Current Frame Node Ocean_render > Export to Texture > Save Current Frame so you get the Still image Unlimited Resolution otherwise you get always the 1080p Limit
