Atom
Hi All, Here I am, weeks in to trying to get a decent crumble simulation out of Houdini and I keep thinking, it's me but when it comes right down to it it is actually bugs in Houdini. Take a look at the image. In what scenario would Houdini NOT correctly map the life of particles? I used the debris tool on an animated .bgeo.sc fracture sequence to create the debris particle system. No matter what, the particle life always remains at 100 seconds. I have reset both simulations multiple times and it just will not reset to my new value of 0.25 seconds. Does anyone know why? I obviously can't post my giant simulation scene. Skybar
Hard to say. Set up a new simple scene, does it work there? If not, probably a bug. If yes, it's something in your setup you can begin to track down.
Skybar
Also, I'm not sure what you are doing exactly. But the particles may inherit the life attribute from whatever your source is.
Atom
Thanks for taking the time to reply, I think I figured it out. The PopReplicate life seems to take over the life value later down the stack. Ideally the Debris Shelf Tool should link these two values via an expression to avoid confusion. Generally if you change the particle life in one place you would want it to change in the other as well.
