Malanjo
Hi all, My first post here! Going straight to the point: I have a sculpture in Zbrush with polypaint (no UVS), and I want to render it in Mantra/Houdini with the polypaint on it, using the vertex color from the OBJ I will export from Zbrush, like this: My question is: How do I assign the Vertex Color from the OBJ in the Diffuse of the mantra surface shader, like in Vray or Marmoset Toolbag? Thanks in advance, -Miguel
michael
I can't say for sure - but I'd go with a different format - like FBX that might be easier can you make a sphere, polypaint it a little then export it as obj and fbx - and attach it here? - I'd like to have a look and see what we can do. Atom
Can you post an example OBJ file from your toolset?
Malanjo
Hi guys, thanks for your replies guys! Michael and Atom, you can check the OBJ, FBX and Ztool (Zbrush file version 4R7P3) of a sphere with Vertex Color attached in this message. Also here's a render in Marmoset Toolbag with the sphere and Vertex Color applied: Thanks in advance once again! -Miguel VertexColor_to_Houdini.zip
michael
looks like the FBX is bad...getting an error when I unzip it.
Malanjo
Hi again Michael! You right, the FBX file was corrupted in the ZIP file I sent to you. Sorry for that. BUT not worries! I tried to import the FBX as you told me in the first post, and it worked! This is great, because I love Houdini/Mantra, and wouldn't like to go back to 3DsMax and Vray to render just my sculptures. Got to love Houdini! You guys there at SideFX are awesome, and you built a very solid piece of software! In all this 15 years as CG artist, Houdini is the first software that gives me the stability I need. Also my workflow speeded up two times because of using Houdini in my pipeline. Congratulations to all the team! Kind regards and thank you once again, -Miguel https://www.artstation.com/artist/malanjo
