KiLa
PolyExtrude SOP in Houdini 15.5 has an option Extrusion Mode, with a value Point Normals. Help card for it says that 'Extrude along point normals' ...but it does not seem to work. I don't get it Cheers -kimmo extrude.hipnc
Atom
You just need to move the Display flag to the polyextrude. You are still visualizing the attribute wrangle in the viewport.
KiLa
Display flag is on the Wrangle SOP just so that the normals are visible in the screenshot
mine
Bump. I've also been trying to make it work but no success at all. Let's see if anybody knows what "extrude along point normals" means in polyextrude node Edited October 18, 2016 by mine
Atom
It still seems to work for me. If you move the Display flag to polyextrude and play with the inset and distance you will see that the new extrusion is projected along the point normals you setup in the previous node. The Inset seems to be a multiplier against the point normals. If you leave it at zero then you see no effect. mine
Thanks Atom, but I must do something wrong because I can't see any variation changing from "Primitive/Edge normal" to "extrude along point normal", nor changing the normals in any way in the previous node. Could it be a bug in build 480? Do you see any change in your extrusion if you bypass the wrangle node or change the extrusion mode?
