art3mis
Hi Creating a simple FLIP simulation with some geometry(extruded letters) falling into a FLIP tanl. I originally created my tank at a size of 4 x 21 x 18 But then I realized if I want to create a 'table top scale' simulation, I needed to reduce the size of my FLIP tank. So I changed it to .4 x 2.1 x 1.8. I kept everything else the same except I also reduced the size of my falling geometry (the letters HELLO) to 10% of their original size. My Particle Separation remained the same at .025. My Feedback value remained the same at 0.4 But, when I run the simulation, it seems to 'break'. ie there is NO splash at the surface. Do I need to alter some other parameter, ie Density, or increase my Feedback? Why shouldn't the simulation work more or less the same if I am keeping my Particle Separation consistent? Attached are a few screen grabs Edited November 1, 2016 by eco_bach
Atom
You may not have enough Volume density on your letters for them to register as collision objects, thus no splash.
art3mis
Thanks Atom. Will give that a try. I'm only half joking when I say SESI should be compensating you for your amazing contribution to this community!
art3mis
Came across this old thread with a supplied file from johner(illusionist). Going to study it and see what makes sense. I assumed to get accurate FLIP sims you need to work to scale, but apparently that's not the case.
