Nice model by the way.

But, I don't think that Mantra is that slow. What renderer are you compering it to?

I compare mantra with mental ray, and I think it is so slow.

There aren't any curves in the scene, I just used carve a sphere to get the top.

Generally Mantra is very snappy, especially with very large scenes. There are a couple of things to be careful of though - the biggest culprit is raytracing against displaced polys. Mantra will tessellate polygons into a very dense mesh for raytracing by default. You must set your Raytraced LOD down in order to speed it up. (This includes raytraced shadows)

It definitely related to exhaustive raytracing in your scene - I see the inside of the telephone booth seems to be refracted heavily. Setting ray-biases and number of refraction bounces will affect this scene a lot.
