art3mis
Noticed in build notes for .713 that Houdini Indie now supports V-Ray IPR. Can any rendering experts summarize the advantages of this to a rendering novice? Why would you choose vray for IPR renders?
Daryl Dunlap
IPR is a progressive render session that is designed to be near interactive. The render engine you use (Mantra, Vray, Redshift, Octane) is up to your personal preference. My opinion of the build notes is that you can take advantage of integrated Vray IPR sessions in the Houdini viewport , versus doing IPR in the Vray Framebuffer. jonmoore
I agree with Daryl, the main advantage of IPR renders being enabled (in Indie) in the latest V-Ray beta is that it facilitates region renders in your main GL viewport. I've got a personal preference for the VFB when using V-Ray as I like it's tone mapping features but having the ability to draw out interactive render regions in my main GL viewport makes for a fluid workflow that's more in line with Mantra and Redshift.
