pld
Hi All, I'm new to Houdini so this might sound an obvious thing... anyway, I'm trying to apply a VEX Glass shader to a cube. The cube is inside a larger cube which is textured with a checkborad pattern. When I render the cube I get black regions which I can't get rid of. I'm not sure if it's something to do with my rendering settings or a problem with my scene. I've tried to change some rendering parameters but no joy thanks for your help! aracid
hey i think u need to change ur reflect + refract bounce on the geo op, ie 10 or add a environment map too your glass shader hope this helps all the best aracid
pld
Thanks aracid, I knew was something to do with refraction/reflection rays..Just couldn't find it under Mantra settings! Found it now in the geo op cheers
Jason
Hullo, It also looks like you have "Consolidate Points" on your cube(s) turned on - which make them shade like spheres. This is why you're getting a bubble look in the refraction. Try turn that off and see if you prefer the results. Cheers, Jason
Marc
I predict you'll probably still get black areas, 'cause the default glass shader is busted/wonky. M
pld
Thanks for your answers...I noticed the bubble effect on other geometry too such as isosurfaces or even spheres. How would I disable this?
