Visual Cortex Lab
"The recently released Houdini version 8 arguably delivers the best dynamic simulation environment on the market, as well as further improvements to lighting and character tools" that's true? i mean .. i'm not that advanced with houdini and i dont personally know vfxworld too much to critique their review.. but this is just a "commercial" advice or you can confirm this? I'm just wondering if I have one more reason to be so happy about learning it.. (like i need more )
Rafal123
that's true? i've seen many that type of articles about diffrent apps like 3dmax and maya, (articles over the net) and it seems that every one of this apps are most powerfull, most [] and most[] marketing is marketing, i remember not long ago seen the main page of 3dmax on autodesk site and marketing slogan was something like: 3dmax was a main tool in day after tomorrow did I miss something? ohh this is a business i think, try to put yourself in the position as a one of this boss company, they need clients, more.... they wanna to satisfy client, more... they wanna grab/hold client for a long time p.s talking about marketing, i've noticed some peoples, houdini users, say they like sideFx approach to marketing and publicRelations with no advertising and all that loud. It's of course NOT GOOD, every company should care about their marketing and PR, marketing is all about peoples/customers. Some companies got better marketing skill some not. Look at mentioned before Autodesk marketing slogans, is that true about max? Not exactly, but they don't care, they have skills to prepare 'words' in way they need and they know this will help their company. Sometimes it works in short time distance and sometimes in long terms. Depends..... geeez I'm writing too much, what is this post about? ohhh
Marc
Well, lets look at this article little deeper, shall we. I certainly don't think that it's pure marketing to say that DOPs is the best dynamic environment in any 3D software. Notice he didn't say the best solvers in the market, which is a different thing altogether, although I think that the RBD solver is certainly of far higher quality than other packages... it just needs the kinks worked out. I believe that DOP's is the by far best out there right now. As a dynamic environment, it's more thought out, more open and certainly more scalable than any other packages dynamics options. Show me another package that can combine cloth and RBD in such a simple way? As soon as they get fluids in there, then I'm sure it will integrate just as easily into the whole thing and make doing dynamics alot easier than certain other packages out there. As for SESI's marketing, I don't think you'll find many people who don't think that they can step it up a little. But stepping it up and lying outright to customers are two totally seperate things. I think that SESI's history in marketing has given them alot of integrity out there. I know I, and most other people, take anything that Softimage and Maya (and Max) say with a very large pinch of salt. I've been in many demo's where the demo artists/marketing people just blatantly made things up with casual disregard for the actual truth. Wheras with SESI, when they say something you can generally bank on it being true. If SESI gets to the top, then they're going to do it with honesty and not like a cheap snake oil salesman claiming to cure world hunger with their product.
