Lampay 0 Posted May 16, 2018 Hello everybody I come to you today to ask for a little help. I would like to find a fairly "simple" "beginner" technique to get some smoke when an object (a foot) touches my groundplane. I have a step sequence in alembic. But I miss the little idea. I tested with rigid and debris sources but nothing conclusive for the moment. thank you in advance for your help
catchyid 34 Posted May 16, 2018 you need to smoke for that. just create a pyro smoke src around the foot when it touches the ground and emit for one frame and let it evolve naturally. The most important thing is to set your initial smoke velocity direction right. good luck
Martin47 18 Posted May 16, 2018 A simple exercise could be color both geo and transfer Cd attribute to the ground via AttribTransfer Sop, Scatter some points by Cd and emit Pyro from that points.

macj89 15 Posted May 17, 2018 Hello Lampay! Attaching a hip, you should play with the Transfer attribute under Emitter and also with the dynamics into the Pyro sim, because for testing purposes, I just used the shelf tab for billowy smoke haha. Have fun messing around the hip! dust_Step_odforce.hiplc
kahn115 0 Posted June 27, 2019 Hello, I'm a student and going through all this process, I've been using the example that you've linked for us to use. Just one question, how do I make the Pyro sim move? For example, in yours, you have the object just moving up and down within Y-Axis. However, for mine, I need to animate going on the Z-axis (It's a walking horse). When I do this, the Pyro doesn't follow, but the bounding box of the Pyro just stops. Please help! kahn115 0 Posted June 27, 2019 Also, could anyone figure out why the dust is generating before the horse is touching the ground? For example, it looks like it's generating in front of the horse. But I just want trails of dust behind the horse everytime it steps on the ground. I'll get the animation of the horse sometime soon from another student, but for now, I have a simple animation of the horse moving along Z-Axis. I've attached my file so it's easier. Please help! Thank you. dust_fx_v008.hipnc
