Ratman
Hey arctor, a quick question, from someone who is as far as i am, the only way to get hired in a place with having no experience would be with having an extremely good reel, or just applying for the lowest type of position, which i guess is where i would be without any production experience , or would my chances be better if i moved near the place, i know the other issue is visa, though i think i shouldn't have a problem in that area as i'm a US Citizen. Thanks, Rick
michael
all I can can say is that you won't ever get a job if you don't send in a reel... there are lots of positions opening (I don't have any details..I'll post them if/when I do) so just give yourself a chance and send in what you have...at worst you'll get some feedback and your name/reel will be kept around for a while.... Overload
hey arctor... is it better to send weblinks for demo reels or actual DVD's??? If so where should the weblinks go? Thanks man. Anthony
Ratman
Hey arctor, what do you guys use for compositing, Shake? Also in the compositing area, is it a major plus if one can set up the passes in Houdini and prolly the lighting too?
michael
I'll ask about the weblinks etc...since there are lots of 2d type jobs I'm guessing portfolios via web will be OK...but I'll ask. As for comp...we use lots of stuff right now - I don't know what the choice will be for the upcoming projects - again I'll ask... and yeah the pipeline(s) will always incorporate rendering in passes - it just makes sense.... I should point out that I'm just the messenger here...right now you know as much about this as I do but I will keep everyone up to day as time goes on. Ratman
Hey arctor, what i meant was, if it is a plus knowing to set up the render passes oneself in Houdini if one is doing the compositing
michael
Ratman > knowing the basics is fine...everyone has their own way of doing this, sometimes simple sometime very complex, so there will always be a little learning involved.
