Dennis Sedov
How come Houdini does not import UV's from OBJ? Is there any work around, or a better way of getting geometry from Maya to Houdini?
Overload
It will... You have to go into VOPs and tell it to read them in. I did this for a project once when I brought ALL my UV data from Maya in on OBJs, and it all lined up perfectly when I added textures back on. I would have to go back and look at how I did it. I'd appreciate if you find how you did it back then. I'm banging my head against the wall now.

stevenong
After reading in the .obj file, can you MMB on the File SOP & see if there's an uv attribute? If there is, then the UVs are imported. You can check in the viewport as well by switching to the UV viewport. Ctrl+RMB to get the pop up menu or type "spacebar + 5" in the viewport. Cheers! steven
Overload
hmm...can't remember off hand. I think so though. I remember going into VOPs and making a very small network...but I am drawing a blank on it right now. I will post the file later on tonight. Marc
They really should just come in without any need for going through VOPS. Try what Steven said and see if there are any uv's on the geometry at all. If not, then it could be something from the maya side. M
