MIguel P
Hi everyone. I've done another scene with one tornado divided in two different tornados (like "the day after tomorrow" scene). I've done the point transformation for all the particle layers (6) in Houdini, controlling manually the splines. After, I've exported It to 3ds max to render with AfterBurn volumetric renderer, only 20 seconds each frame. I post the video and two images with more resolution. Overload
Cool man... Dumb question, but what did you export out to Max? Just the particles, or after you applied geometry to them? Cheers Anthony

Cheers Anthony I exported only the particles.

MIguel P
Here is the animation. Now, the tornado is color corrected and best integrated. Tomorrow I'll post a HiRes version longer. Tornado.zip
Overload
Very nice Miquel, keeps looking better and better . Does that pipeline seem to be working out fairly well for you? It appears so. I know with I3D that would take days to render.

I know with I3D that would take days to render. Thanks Overload. Very well. AfterBurn (3ds max volumetric renderer) works much faster than i3d with mantra. Each frame of this sequence with 640x384 resolution, only takes 4 minutes, and AfterBurn don't needs a 3d texture pre-rendering like i3d's render in ROPs. I think Is a great Pipeline for me. MIguel P
Cool man... Yea the last project I did with I3D took 24 hrs to render 250 frames . I will have to try that. The new place im going to work at has Afterburn, but I have never used it. I just hope that 3dMax has a decient particle system, as I'm used to POP's which is bullet proof . GL on the tornado, looking forward to seeing the final Yes, 3ds max has a decent particle system. It isn't like POPs... but in another forums, Brandon Davis (He has worked at digital domain in the day after tomorrow, with houdini, and in other films with 3ds max) said that the last version of particle flow (3ds max's particle system) is like a combination of POPs and DOPs. http://www.orbaz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=709 This link is a forum of max's partice system. It can help you in your new work Of course Houdini's particle system is better than any other system
