papsphilip
Is there a way to retime alembic instances? i would like to have an attribute on my points (before the copy to points sop) that sets the speed of the alembic animation and the frame it starts. is possible to use an agent setup? that has this functionality built in as far as i have seen..although my alembic file is very simple geometry - not a rig or anything like that. Any tips?

papsphilip
Thanks for the topic! i think i found an easier way to randomize the alembic animation - offset-speed - through the "abcframe" intrinsic primitive attribute.
papsphilip
ok so after a bit of testing i couldn't get the speed randomized but i fixed the offset. My alembic file has a rotating part which when sped up or down (through the "abcframe" intrinsic attribute) seems to behave in a weird way. Here is my file so far alembic_retiming.hip
papsphilip
ok the abcframe workflow is working. i was able to offset the alembic animation and randomize speed. check out this thread and this tutorial by Tim Van Helsding : https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/79060/?page=1#post-339742
