djorzgul
I just read this post on mudbox's forum... and I found it kinda funny... so I thought to qoute it here... the funny thing is in bold... Skymatter chooses to not make a Mac OS X port an option or a priority, which is fine, but anyone has the right to request that they change their business philosophy. It really has nothing to do with the economics as Pixologic, NeverCenter [silo], Luxology [Modo] and even the lowly DAZ3D [Hexagon] enjoy healthy Mac sales. All I gotta say is "Deep Paint": that's a another Windows only app that was extremely popular when it was released, they never ported a Mac version and now virtually no one uses Deep Paint anymore. What are texture painters using instead? Bodypaint, or ZBrush or straight Photoshop all of which incedentally are available to both Windows and Mac users. "Develop for OS X FIRST or die a slow death" should be part of the corporate mantra of EVERY creative application developer. SoftImage and SideFX are dying that slow death now and so has 3DSMax, which is why AutoDesk bought Alias.
Marc
haha... spoken like a person with a delicate grasp on reality. I admit I think if SESI had a mac port then it would make buying a mac almost impossible to resist, but that's about as far as it goes for me. True true, I'd love to own a Mac; and why not? Frankly I am quite surprised that there is no Mac port of Houdini. I can imagine that Houdini 9 with it's refreshed UI would make an ideal candidate for it, probably. I guess that on the other hand, there is so much new work in Houdini 9 that they already have a ton of work to do. Here's hoping, though...
