Rafal123
I add SCATTER sop to my geo then connect POINT sop to that with ADD NORMAL, but it ain't work. When I display point normals nothing happens and when I bypass SCATTER, point normals appear(but from geo points). Can somebody explain that? symek
Normals in PointSOP are computed from a faces. If there is no faces I suppose normals are {0,0,0} or nothing is set (can't check now). To have normals on scattered points you should have normals on points in source geometry. cheers, sy.
Darric
Yeah, give your source geo points normals, and then use an Attribute Transfer from the source geo to the scatter.
Rafal123
thanks people! works great... it even works with no attribTransfer connected, I found it's a matter of connection order [CIRCLE] | [sKIN] | [POINT] | [sCATTER] in this setup it works, before I had SKIN after POINT p.s can somebody explain why it ain't work when POINT is before SKIN? When I show info on those three(POINT SKIN SCATTER) H shows that all of them have 1 point attribute N[3] , why it should be transfered? Marc
The skin SOP resets the normals to 0. So while the attribute is still there, it's essentially empty. One question though, why are you skinning before scattering? In theory it should work fine with just a scatter. M
Darric
Ah, it seems like scatter has an internal attribute transfer. Edit: Also I believe the skin's there to get a better scatter distribution..? Edited October 1, 2007 by Darric
