MIguel P
Hi guys, The other day I saw the updated DD reel with the Pirates of the Caribbean work, so I decided to do smething similar to the world's end waterfall. Here is the result. The video has a breakdown at first. I have used sprites for the whitewater and mist with a procedural VOP texture (exactly the same I used in the tornado) and deep shadows. The foam from the rock are particles rendered as points. All composed in Fusion. The whole think has taken me less than two days, for now. Video -> waterfall+breakdown.avi (Divx) The video has sound. Tell me what do you think! Edited October 8, 2007 by MIguel P

MIguel P
great as always. could you please tell us the total render time? Thanks! The main whitewater falling took around 2-3 minutes per frame (there are around 80.000 particles in each frame, with deep shadows of 512*512 and 2 2 samples). The ocean surface, foam and rock took less than 15 seconds per frame. I have to say that the whitewater are not exactly sprites, but grids copied onto particles. The only difference is the orientation, I didn't want them pointing to the camera.
