Marc
It doesn't say anywhere that he's ruled out as a director though, so it may still be him. Having him exec produce the thing is a promising start though. Awesome!
michael
I think they have to start before the rights lapse... and Jackson has Lovely Bones and Tin-Tin on his plate... personally I'd prefer someone other than Jackson as a director for the Hobbit...he's just not that good... stu
Yeah, I don't get the fascination with him either.
Marc
He must've done something right. It's got to be hard directing 3 movies at the same time and at that quality level. Either way, you know he'll do good work and not turn it into some camp fest like some other directors out there.
photex
I love his shaky-strobey close-ups. hilarious as well as awesome, "Bad Taste" though it may be. Anyone that can turn my wife into a fan of the rings has talent and I approve.
michael
don't get me wrong... the achievement (3 films in a row at that scale/quality etc) is something I admire and respect... but the writing and directing of the actors (who are all very uneven), horrible use of otherwise solid music, pacing and tone/mood changes are pretty bad...add to that the infuriating over use of the big sweeping shots to establish...what?...over and over again... meh... Netvudu
IMO a couple of problematics points for the script are: - Main characters are all dwarves but Gandalf and Bilbo (which is a hobbit). That could be problematic. - I bet they will "dumb" the spiders of the Black Forest. Otherwise that scene could come out quite cheesy, with talking spiders and the like. - Yep, they sing everywhere in this one as well. - It does have a childish tone to it (I understand, it was written for his son). They will have to darken the whole thing to keep in tune with LOTR. Strong things I can imagine working nicely into the script: - The goblin mountains/finding of the ring - Everything that already worked nicely, such as Rivendel, the Shire... CG party to be expected: -Smaug, the dragon, of course. - The two trolls at the beginning - Beorn....thought I don Edited December 20, 2007 by Netvudu
