few_a_fx
This just a quick shader I created from this animated short I was working on, and I just wanted to get some opinions about it. I've only create 1 or 2 shaders in Houdini, both were fire shaders. Feel free to leave any suggestion.
michael
check your displacement bounds...the picture on the right shows some cracks... also...they should be a bit more circular and more concave... http://www.biology4kids.com/extras/dtop_micro/7315_580.jpg looking forward to see more
rob
Hi , It would be good if you could post up your shader. As Im sure people would be interested in the structure of the code.

I didn't use any code, I just started out using a VEX Supermaterial and a Fractal Dent. I just changed the settings until I got the look I was going for. I needed to do this on the fly last night to meet a deadline. But as for posting it I can do that, but I haven't really learned VEX yet so the shader is very basic. But here's the file anyways. shader_rbcell.hip

I actually used some blood cells in my student film a while back as well. I'm personally fond of the way a little bit of sub surface scatter looks. not as strong as this: http://www.vitalsigns-health.co.uk/Images/RedBloodCells.jpg but just a bit of it. JDenker
yea.. the shader looks good so far but as said earlier, check displacement bount! & Allegro ist right. It definatly needs a bit of sub surface scattering! but its a promising start!!
JDenker
also keep in mind... with the blood-cell animation that the boodcells dont crash into each other..take a look at the interact pop. cheers -J
