Leylabot
Hey guys, I work for Side Effects in LA - both sales and community marketing. I just wanted to let you know that we have many customers/prospects interestd in hiring Houdini people in several regions. Please remember that while we don't help "recruit" as a company, we're happy to make some introductions. As there is always a dire need for great Houdini artists, please feel free to connect with me if you've used Houdini in production and are interested in work. Cheers, Leyla leyla@sidefx.com 310.319 9876
JoshJ
Hi Leyla, Its great to hear this type of news! It should also be very encouraging for anyone who is thinking of pursuing a career using Houdini. As for myself, I'm based in New York and have worked professionally creating visual effects with 3ds max and After Effects. I'm currently taking some time away from freelancing and intensively learning Houdini on my own. So, again, this type of message from sidefx is encouraging, keep up the good work. kleer001
At an introductory class I heard "I don't know a single Houdini artist out of a job who wants one" (or something like that). Seems like it's mostly true

kodiak
At an introductory class I heard "I don't know a single Houdini artist out of a job who wants one" (or something like that). Seems like it's mostly true I don't know any GOOD artist/TD out of a job who wants one..I guess there isn't a huge difference in this regard (I hope at least). Leylabot
Well, we've been striving really hard especially with Houdini 9 to get more people and places using our technology. Of course, we're going through some natural growing pains - a lot of people prefer having expert in house skills to get things set up, but I think right now more than ever is a great time to jump start a career in Houdini. For the first time ever, even people new to Houdin are a great asset if they can find their way around H9 comfortably. Of course, we have a lot to thank to our community partners like Odforce for helping propel a great environment for people to learn . -L
whalerider
In which regions do you see this demand? Is it the usual places (LA, London) or other locations as well?
Leylabot
In which regions do you see this demand? Is it the usual places (LA, London) or other locations as well? We're looking right for places beyond UK and LA. Right now we're looking a little for Australia and NYC. Of course , California will always have a need for Houdini artists.
