ofer
Title: A cartoony character I modeled this guy in modo and ZBrush. Then rigged and rendered in Houdini. I implemented the skin shader from GPU Gems 3. It is very nice, and looks good. The animations are more like an experiment to me, since most of the work was on the modeling and rendering. I like the model and the skin. The eyes however need more detail. The white part especially lack shading and looks strange in the whole context of the face. ofer
I actually like the eyes, and when I tried different shaders I found I like this constant shading the most. But since you are not the first one who don't like the eyes, I'll try to do something better. Thanks.
ofer
Since I rendered the videos in high-res, I also post them here, if someone is interested. 2.mov 3.mov Edited August 6, 2008 by ofer

Jason
Since I rendered the videos in high-res, I also post them here, if someone is interested. Well done.. it's fun (for me) to see this type of work in Houdini. Please keep us posted over here.
ofer
Thanks for the comments and advices. I know the tongue should move, and the skin texture can be better in the forehead area, and the teeth are not lit very well, and probably a few other things. But I'm tried of working on this guy. I will just try to improve the eyes shader, and do a turntable render to show the skin shader a bit better. I hope the next one will be even better. michael
how did you rig the face? bones? blendshapes?
ofer
Blendshapes and lattice deformers. Next time I'll try bones and wire deformations also.
ofer
Here is a turntable video with better (I hope) eyes. Sorry for the artifacts in the back. I concentrated on the front when painting the textures, and the back of the neck doesn't look very good. 4.mov
