Netvudu
Hi there. What I want is to use a proxy geometry to view in the viewport, but to render geometry at render time in place of that proxy stuff. How is this done? I have a nice scene of pillars that Gallenwolf posted to help, but he uses copies at object level, placed individually, while I want to substitute a la Andy Boyd, this is using a proxy geo for the copy SOP but rendering another thing. I thought copying an object merge of a geometry which pointed itself to the hires one through the procedural shader would be enough, but it

stevenong
Hi netvudu, I've attached a hip file that's similar to what you described - instancing delayed loaded objects. To test, please go into the teapot object and display the File SOP once to write out the geometry then render. Hope it helps. Cheers! steven teapot_delayed_load.zip

JoshJ
I have a piece of geometry with different materials on different parts, and I'd like to instance the whole piece of geometry as a delayed load procedural. Do I need to break up the individual parts into different instances? Otherwise, how can I get different materials on the different parts of a single object that is instanced?
