anamous
Thanks for the link Jason. Very impressive, open source or not. Blender's been making gigantic progress the last few years. IMO its main problem is its UI. cheers, Abdelkareem
rdg
IMO its main problem is its UI. Maybe this can fix this: http://digitaltools.node3000.com/blog/ilov...hing_system.php

jason_slab
very cool this is how Houdini's viewport should look:) it would be great for setting up lighting. something I've been hoping that will eventually happen in 3d viewports, real time game engine interaction, OK i know it's not as simple as that, but how cool would it be!! jason
ofer
Actually, why isn't it simple? I mean, this kind of rendering is very well known today. Why using GLSL shaders in Houdini should be slower?
Jason
Actually, why isn't it simple? I mean, this kind of rendering is very well known today. Why using GLSL shaders in Houdini should be slower? It would be good to see if someone could recreate this scene in Houdini, now that Houdini has viewport shadows etc. Naturally we won't get DOF working easily but, yeah, I suppose it should be possible. Here is the post in which there is the link to the blender file. (In the file are the textures too, which Blender can bust out onto disk). http://blenderartists.org/forum/showpost.p...p;postcount=

jason_slab
hey yeah i guess one could/can set up this, but what i really meant was that it would be nice as an out of the box solution, not a DIY job jason
