artzor
hi all, anyone know any hacks to get caustics rendering using only one rop? (ie, not having one rop for photon generation and a seperate one for rendering) i'm doing huge scenes and having to write out point-clouds separately just isn't working. is there any way around this using PBR? Pazuzu
Hi!! You can go to the gear and edit the rendering parameters, go to mantra folder an under the PBR folder search for "Allowable Paths". Now you can have caustics without photon maps.
artzor
hi Pazuzu, I set Mantra to allow all paths but this does not magically enable caustics... are there any other settings that need to work with this as well? i've taken out the caustics and global photon default file paths, but otherwise all my settings are at default. i'm using the standard glass shader (faux caustics disabled)

jason_slab
hey funny it was the first thing i tried (turning up the reflection and glossy limit), didn't work for me, maybe it's because i wasn't using 9.5... jason Edited March 24, 2009 by jason_slab
