Looks nice!

Can I ask about what hardware you use to produce such effects? And how long it takes to produce those simulations and the final render passes?

As a single user home operator of Houdini I find that most tasks are beyond my single 8 core computer. I am often faced with hundreds of hours of sim time and render time.

How do you render noise free using Mantra?

This is my setup:

Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-4790k (4.0GHz) 8MB Cache

32GB KINGSTON HYPER-X FURY DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (4 x 8GB)

4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970

240 GB SSD

2 TB HDD

And when I was working on the first shot I had to buy external Hard Drive (2 TB)

so I don`t run out of space. Those simulation do take a lot of space.

I`m rendering  with Mantra pbr with pretty much default settings.

And second shot is very very noisy. I even had to add noise to foam layer in comp, so it matches with the ocean render noisiness, but when I added color correction and some flares it`s not so noticeable :)

For render times. 1st shot took a long time.

Longest probably was writing out Whitewater particles.

Run out of RAM and Houdini crashed even few times.

For the first shot . writing out cache and rendering all together (if I would be rendering just final versions :D not million versions and rerenderings :D) I would say 4-5 straight Days (24hx5)

The second shot was faster. 2-3 days together I think.
