Attribute transfer with alembic animation and simulation stopped working

Hello, I am a third year animation student starting vfx. I have a simple disintegration animation for my major project that I have done on a sphere and now I need to transfer it to a hand animation that I have done in Maya and cached into an Alembic. As the animation and FBX camera export start at frame 1671, I changed the simulation to start on that frame. However, the simulation has stopped working and I'm not sure if I have transferred the effect correctly.

I have provided the files, thank you!

I have provided new files! I managed to get the sphere to swap with the hand but the effect doesn't work still? It doesn't become smoke and disintegrate

I can't open the file since I'm at the office. If you are using a SOP solver to transfer the attributes, try to do a switch in there.

So, change from input(1) to prev frame on frame 1671 or 1672.

@derjcmp I have worked out that I need to convert the Alembic into a volume using a convert node but the simulation is still not working anymore. Thank you! :)

@3dome Hello, Thank you for replying and having a look at my simulation but its not working and loads of errors appeared when I opened it?

Thank you again!

what kind of errors? on what nodes?
there shouldn't be any errors.
did you update the file paths?

@3dome Hello, I didn't path one of the files correctly! Sorry!

The simulation shows random bits of smoke appearing and vanishing? I need the arm to be smoke already and then disintegrate from the hand up.

I've attached what the simulation looked like before.

Thank you! :)

Make a static version of your hand geo at origin and do your effect on that, and transfer it to the animated geo with a point deform node?

I opened your file last night and it wasn't even working after importing your alembic, I'll maybe try again later.

@sandford The effect use to work starting at frame 1 but since I changed the starting frame and added in the alembic its stopped working.

I'll attach the original file before I made changes and added in the alembic

Thank you!

I had the same problem as sandford, so I wasn't even sure what to look for. So thanks for the new files.

I'll have a look at it tonight if it hasn't been solved till then.

Well the scene with that arm is 100 times bigger than your test scene with the sphere. that's why all those values for volumes etc don't work. have a look at the attached file (I did not scale it down, but I recommend you do, right after the alembic node) and jump to frame 1680, let it cook and see if the result is kinda what you're after.
Also I would go with a pyro sim with those points as source instead of those SOPs.
