  1. Greetings, I'm having a difficult time getting my point normals to display properly in the Scene View. All other types of guides and visualizers available on the right side menu (primitive normals, point numbers, and display points) seem to function fine. I can manage to get point normals to somewhat work by setting up a custom visualizer, but it doesn't last forever until i have to restart Houdini to get it to function again. Also oddly when using the custom visualizer, the vectors only extend in the X and Y directions. I can tell there are Z components to the vectors though because if i change the visualizer from vector to text there are three values that display for each point. The trouble started when I was still using OSX 10.9 so I upgraded to 10.10. Installed the latest daily builds for Houdini. Uninstalled and reinstalled Houdini. I'm on a Macbook Pro, so I disabled the Automatic Graphics Switching. I reset the PRAM. I ran several maintenance programs. I've tried nearly everything I can think of short of a complete OS refresh. Attached is some pictures to help explain my situation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Mac OSX Yosemite (v 10.10.5) Houdini Apprentice 15.0.313 8 GB Ram NVIDIA Geforce GT 330M
  2. Recently Mantra does not render anymore on my MacBook. Despite I am not aware of having changed any program settings (switched my OSX to Yosemite though), mantra does not go beyond displaying "Generating Scene...". So far I tried - restarting houdini - setting up new scenes - switching from and to PBR - deleting folders from Macintosh HD > Library > Houdini.framework - re-installing more recent builds Houdini FX Version 13.0.587 Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10 (14A389) MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) 2,6 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB Help is much appreciated : )
  3. Hi Everyone, I'm moving to other place soon and since I'm using desktop, I'm considering to buy a laptop to replace it for my houdini work. But I'm still quite worry about the stability of temperature for laptops since I'm going to use it a lot on rendering, lighting and comp. I'm not a mac user but recently I look at Mac Mini which is quite affordable and it basically a mini cpu version that I can bring everytime I move to different place without having to worry about shipping cost and extra baggage. My questions are, have any of you guys use Houdini 12 with Mac Mini before? The spec that I'm planning to buy is i7 Quad Core 2.3 + 8 GB RAM + 1 TB HD + Intel HD 4000 for graphics. My only worry would be on the Intel HD 4000, would Houdini able to run with it? Since I understand that I can't replace the graphic card with NVidia. So hopefully any of you guys can shed a light on this Cheers..
