Stremik
This is probably an easy one . How/where can I change the rfraction index of an geometry object?
Stremik
All right. What I'm trying to do is to get a picture of refracted light. A rainbow. Can it be done? I mean the actual separation of colors by projecting a ray of light onto an obgect with refraction index 1.33 . Any ideas?
Stremik
WOW! I found a freeware renderer that can do a light dispersion!!! example Homepage
Marc
very nice.... You have to give it a try and let us all know if its really that good . I find images made by renderers are often misleading (ie it rendered beautifully, but it took a few days to setup that scene so it worked properly and then took 36 hours to render.... ) Cheers Marc

Marc
Not I. I have cleverly avoided the anguish of trying to get these things to work. I have, however, watched with great delight the suffering of others . Learning from other peoples mistakes is the only way to go
Wolfwood
LOL. My personal favorite. "The stills are great...but the lighting in the animation flickers like a rave." jim.
Stremik
That's it! I can't take it anymore! I've been trying to render an image with this WinOsi renderer. Loaded one of the supplied scenes (the one where white light is being broken up in to rainbow colors after passing through prism) and... It's been over an hour and a half and the image is still not finished! Been rendering on an AMD AthlonXP 2000+; 512 MB system memory; Radeon 8500 64 MB. The end.
