kursad
Hi I am trying to turn average normals into rotational values. I am wondering about how to achieve it. I am using attribute promote to calculate averaged point normals. Now I can access the averaged normals using the "detail" expression. I want to use these average normals to rotate the meshes. I might need to align some other objects to these rotated meshes by relying on the averaged normals of the original meshes. thanks

kursad
Macha, thanks for pointing out. It looks like your VOP setup is what I need for the moment. As far as I understand this is not possible without matrix tranformations? Also is there a way to use the matrix that comes out of "align1" Vop operator directly in SOPs? I know the basic matrix math, I will try to understand what is going on mathematically inside your VOP, but would be nice to figure out direct plugging of certain matrices in SOPs. I think there is a way to do it within Python SOP. I might have some more questions later thanks again
petz
you could use "dihedral" directly in sops without the need of vops. file is attached. hth. petz rotation.hipnc
kursad
Petz, this is great. I never knew these expressions. This is another way to achieve. Thanks for the file as well. Good stuff
art3mis
Hi Petz Could you briefly explain your Rotate expressions?
