concept4
I'm trying to find out how often realflow is used in high end effects solutions in film. I've seen some nice effects come out of it but am a bit hesitant as to whether I should spend the time in learning it in depth over learning another simulation solution. Any thoughts and information welcomed. --Ronnie

Wolfwood
over learning another simulation solution. Besides real flow what other off the shelf alternatives are there?
Marc
Maya? perhaps? Besides, I wouldn't worry too much about investing a lot of time in learning a fluid sim package only to have it wasted. The concepts that all of them use are pretty much the same. While the settings and level of control over what you do may differ, ultimitely if you know one then you can easily pick up another one. Cheers Marc oh, P.S. I have no idea how often its used in production . I know that we've got our own custom fsim and R&H does too.
concept4
Sounds good, I think I will just go over some of the tutorials instead for the basics of it. Besides real flow what other off the shelf alternatives are there? I didn't really have anything specific in mind, there are some CFD libraries though that I guess could be considered. --Ronnie
Wolfwood
Maya? perhaps? Speaking of which...anyone have any good things/bad things to say about FluidFX? I know 3DS Max and Maya each have a couple of plugins....
