3__
hmm, over 2k per license and no demo. I'd stick to max + simcloth/reactor. -cpb

Marc
Well aside from Arctor's cryptic answer, that sounds pretty cool . Its about time someone included houdini in their compatability list.

mark
hmm, over 2k per license and no demo. I'd stick to max + simcloth/reactor hmm, that's over 4k per license and no demo? i hope houdini never get into the plugins concept like some other companies, by releasing a deliberately incomplete product so they can license plugins, but like Marc said any specialised apps offering houdini support is very good !! michael
I doubt very much that SESI has anything like that in mind...they're a very small company so the resources that they have are dedicated to the core product - things like cloth - which frankly are not used much by the majority of the user base - tend to go on the back burner... I'm not sure I'm a fan of the thinking behind apps that have 'everything' - maya being a great example...yeah it has cloth but it's crap, it has Live - but it's also crap, oh and the fur is also crap...because no one has touched the code for *years* and some of it is writen in a language that no one at Alias understands (Czech IIRC ) anywho...I'm very happy about the future of Houdini.... mark
hehe good points arctor, maybe it's not best to have everything included in the base app. sesi know what they are doing i dont doubt that

honzal
to arctor> I understand Czech ( maybe because I am the Czech ), so Alias should hire me then jan
Guest Guest
Arctor is right on the money. I have talked quite a bit with Peter Bowmar at SESI about developing characer plugins for Houdini. They are very interested in assisting other companies like they have done with Martian Labs but have made a deliberate decision to stick to keeping the core app at its best. They are really hoping that other companies will step in and develop tools which the midrange companies like.
