Having an issue with Houdini Alembic to Maya

hey guys, i hope you could shed some light on this

I'm trying to Alembic rop my bgeo sim out to maya, ive cleaned up the sim prior to creating the bgeo sequence (removes things like rest attributes , velocity etc)

the only thing in the bgeo sequence is the $P and $uv attributes, i write this out with an alembic rop and try to import into maya using the pipeline tools

i only get back an empty polysurface1 node with this error in the console

AbcImport -mode open -fitTimeRange ".../Alembic/Engine_Exploding.abc";

// Error: Error getting adding to initalShadingGroup. //

// Error: No connection done for node 'file1' with //

// Result: Engine_Exploding_AlembicNode //

assigning a new shader to the polysurface does nothing

Any help with be greatly appreciated

Hi Adad

could you put up one of your bgeo´s so we can see exactly what is going on.

it should export over okay. or maybe from 1 to 10 for example.

That way we can take a look at this.

in a fresh houdini file i have a bgeo seq which i am trying to export through alembic format, what i get in maya is a polysurface node in outliner & nothing in viewport even after applying any material.

console said.

// Error: Error getting adding to initalShadingGroup. //

// Error: No connection done for node 'OUT1' with //

// TST_AlembicNode5

any help ll be highly appreciated.

object merge technique couldnt work in my case :(

just with the console Error it´s quit hard to see your issue.

What Houdini & Maya etc.... are you using?

Can you put up One bgeo from your sequence so I can see the details and maybe give you a solution.

:rolleyes:.. actually what i have assessed may be its wrong but its not bgeo issue i ve tried it with sphere or different geometries and observed

alembic export with maya (OK)

alembic import with maya (OK) (if exported with maya)

alembic Import with houdini (OK) (maya exported abc)

alembic export with houdini (OK) (when import in houdini)

alembic import with maya (NOT OK) ( if exported from houdini) *

couldnt rectify although Fbx solved my problem.
