idini
Hi, I am just getting started with Houdini and am having some display problems with a GeForce 4 card. The image below shows this better than I could describe it. Has anybody else had a similar problem and, if so, is there a fix? I have installed the latest display drivers, etc. Thanks, Dave Carroll
danteA
Are you displaying a Wireframe over Smooth Shaded view there? You might want to try setting the environment variable HOUDINI_DISABLE_DISPLAYLIST to have a value of 1 and see if that works around the driver problem. Which driver version are you running exactly btw? Are you on Linux or Windows?
idini
Thanks for the reply. It is wire over flatshaded but I get the same with smoothshaded. The wireframe only display appears fine though. I am using the Detonator 30.82 drivers on Windows 2000 sp2. I will try setting the variable as suggested when I get home tonight. I had tried altering all the OGL variables but to no avail. Didn't try the one you mention though. Fingers crossed! Thanks again, Dave Carroll
Jason
If you hit "d" and go to the Display parameters, there is a field for Hidden Line Sensitivity. Wiggle that: if might help! Ciao! J
mike
Another option is, to set the nearclip >
will
i was having similar problems seeing artifacts, see-through faces, and a jumble of jaggedies. changing the near clip plane from the default .001 to .1 completely solved it. thank you many times for the great suggestion mike!
