Mcronin
I went and saw this with Jay Simmons tonight. We both thought it was suprisingly good, which is saying alot because Jason is an angry, angry man and he seems to hate everything except MXC and stir-fry. Wolfwood says he liked it as well. Most of the effects were spectacular, and I really loved what they did with Chicago. Kudos to anyone here who might have had a hand in it
deecue
i was suprised to enjoy it too.. i thought the story was pretty well developed and the acting was descent considering half the "actors" were virtual and not really there. of course a lot of things were hollywood-a-fyed (sp?), but that was to be expected.. sunny was a great character as well.. and on top of all that, the CG blew my mind away.. you lighters out there..man, that was some impressive stuff... exel
Damn you Cronin, YOU'RE DRUNK again aren't you! Yep I have to agree, I Robot was pretty good... the effects were mostly great, but a little shoddy compositing here and there (watch for it, you'll see it). I liked the "old-model" robots and lot, and I thought the muscly-looking black cables on the NS-5's were a really cool touch. Overall, it was enjoyable and nicely done. Moose
I haven't seen it yet...I think it's only just come out here in the UK. It's encouraging to hear though, that the film as a whole might be half-decent. I thought Bicentennial Man and Minority Report (both of which I've only managed to see recently) were quite good - especially considering the poor plot lines of yer average Hollywood blockbuster flick. I hope though, that the issues of free-will and the distinctions/similarities between man and machine are addressed more in-depth (we aren't all "wash-over thick"), as it'd be nice to see films taking risks again - but here's to hoping!. Looking forward to seeing it anyway - Fx looked pretty cool on the tv trailer, so it'll be worth seeing just for that...
mark
distinctions/similarities between man and machine i cant wait for ghost in the shell 2, thats what this is all about (the rights of humans / animals / robots). im generally no anime fan but i really like the philosophies behind ghost in the shell. I'll make sure I see I, Robot for sure
