sascha
I tried to open the "vex hair tutorial" file from Jason Simmons under Windows but I don't know which kind of archive it is. Ok. it's from the Unix world but on Windows WinRAR, WinAce and 7Zip dont't even know this format.
DaJuice
Not sure, but I think you need gzip sascha. http://www.gzip.org/gzip124xN.zip

I'm thinking of making a new demo that's a little more elegant and up to date. -JS-
michael
yeah...I'd wait till the build of Houdini with the scatter SOP comes out - that will get you most of what jason did much faster...poor poor wheel-re-inventing jason.
edward
How are you going to use the scatter sop help for hair?
thekenny
It would be a cheap way to get points to use as roots for his hair. I think he was duing a POPsource cheat before to get some random points on a surface. -k
exel
Well, that was something I messed with more recently... the "vex hair tutorial" I posted here is over a year old I think, and doesn't do anything special, just copies curves to subdivided surface points, throws a spring SOP on 'em and then blends back the "un-sprung" point positions. P.S: When can we see a real hair addon in Houdini? Sometimes it is nice to have a quick tool for it.
