riCurve like texturing in Mantra?

Recommended Posts

ricurve primitives are pretty cool in Renderman. They give you U & V! You can texture them like a long thin flat tube.

But sadly the way Mantra renders curves you only get on direction on the curve. Unless? Is there any way to get texture information along the short width of a rendered curve in Mantra? <knock wood>

There is an optimization turned on by default (albeit available only in both micro-poly modes), which forces Mantra to shade curve only at its edges (making only 't' sensible coordinate). Just turn on: Object->Render Tab -> Dicing: Shade Curves As Surfaces. I've just verified in 14.0.220.
