robert.magee
Side Effects Software Inc. is pleased to announce the public beta launch of the Houdini Exchange - an exciting new learning resource for the Houdini community. The Houdini Exchange is a place for the Houdini community to access Digital Assets, .hip files, geometry files, shaders, texture files, and scripts. These files will be used both as learning tools and directly in production. The Houdini community will have the ability to upload and download files and to rate and add comments to other people's work. Community members can also download an asset, make changes, then upload an alternative solution. From time to time, Side Effects Software will upload assets that will support you in your work. For instance the rabbit creature rig shown in the SIGGRAPH demos is now available for downloading. Community members must register with a password (a forum password will also work for the exchange) which will give access to the exchange and the forum. Files uploaded in the Apprentice File format will be converted automatically into standard Houdini files to ensure that they are usable by everyone. All the assets are categorized and can be searched based on a number of criteria. There is now a Houdini Exchange FORUM for providing feedback. It is important that the assets are accessible to everyone including Apprentice users and your testing is crucial to the Houdini Exchange's success. _________________ Robert Magee Senior Product Specialist Side Effects Software Inc. meshsmooth
Now when people sprout the benefits of being able to look through files and learn just by looking through the network, there will be a supply of files to look at and learn from.
