Poupouw
Hello everyone, I am quite new with Houdini, actually I'm working on it for only a few days now and I have som problems with rendering. I trie to follow some basics tutorials, mostly to do water and pyro FX; but it's not working as I'd like it to. When I try to create a Pryo explosion, for example, my smoke is full of grain. Even the simpliest thing is rendered with those ygly spot all around. Here is a screen of my render viewport: http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/397384screen.jpg And what my render looks like: http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/583459render.jpg It really bothers me, because I don't know where to go to set this up, and I can't go further into simulation if all my renders look like this. I am really to ask this kind of questions, but after watching tutorials and surf and the net, I did not find a solution to this. Thank you for your help
dbukovec
hi! Increase the stochastic transparency samples, try 16, on mantra ROP, also use the PBR mode, and you may increase the pixel sample to at least 4*4 What you see in the viewport is not equivalent what you see in render. lukeiamyourfather
Check out the documentation. It covers this and a lot of other good stuff. http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini14.0/render/sampling http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini14.0/render/noise http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini14.0/nodes/out/ifd#sampling_tab
fathom
i find for smoke, i keep the stochastic samples low (like maybe 4 at most, but i try to keep it like 0 or 1). i turn off ray variance and do a min ray of 1, then crank up the pixel samples to like 9x9 or 12x12.
