michael
check out this little vid on the new feature called 'capsules': http://mtlstream02.discreet.com/streaming/...s_demo_380k.mov
keltuzar
yup its is indeed funny... but what it really nice to see is that softwares are now giving more freedom to users to change features around thereby providing a higher level of creativity... doesnt shake have something like this too? edward
It's not clear from the demo though whether the capsules are linked. If one changed and re-saved the capsule file, does it affect files which have already added the capsule?
michael
no...as far as I can tell they are embedded in the file...you can save them out and share them etc...but they are not 'linked'...
Jason
Interesting, thanks for the link! Nuke has also had this type of functionality for some time, called "Gizmos". I wonder if capsules can inherit other capsules? Neither gizmo's nor capsules seem nearly as well developed as OTLs but I see Softimage and Maya following suit on this idea too. michael
hmmm... "...capsules can inherit other capsules?..." not sure...looks to me like the best analogy would be subnets with promoted parameters...if that's the case it might be possible to have casules within capsules... I think they're trying to do something along the lines of After Effects Favorites...but clearly the capsules/gizms/OTL style is way better... Softimage and Maya eh?..huh, have to look into that...haven't really been keeping up on what those guys are up to...
