Are you trying to export ass files? This is a limitation of indie, for all renders.

Did you try it?  That's the error that's generated when you click render for IPR or Mplay. Then the render doesn't work and errors out.

No, I'm just adding the Arnold ROP, setting the correct links to the cam and rendertarget (which i'm using the provided Digital Asset for) and press render. (Edit: Also using the Arnold Standard Material on a sphere geo).

As far as I'm aware, the ASS export tab is hidden anyway from the ROP otl by detecting the Houdini version. There's a python expression checking for houdini or houdini educational.

Same issue happening here. I made a simple sphere, arnold light, arnold standard and arnold rop and when I try to render the "Error: [htoa] Error while writing ASS file"  appears again and again.

I contacted SESI, if I get an answer I'll let you know.

Cheers

Hi all,

This is an HtoA bug that affects OSX only, logged as ticket #808. It's been fixed in the trunk and should be out soon in an upcoming bugfix release.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

All fixed on OsX with htoa 1.1.2.1. Thanks!

Fwiw. If you have trouble launching the installer, use RMB 'Show Package Contents' then run 'Contents/MacOS/htoa-1.12.1_r1781_houdini-15.5.523_darwin.run' from a terminal.
