art3mis
As a novice wondering if there was a reason to choose the old PopNet instead of the new one. Can anyone summarize the advantages of one vs the other? From a learning perspective the old PopNet seems much more intuitive and easier to work with. lukeiamyourfather
The new POP network is built on top of the DOP network which is multithreaded. The old POP network isn't. If you're doing fairly simple things then it doesn't matter which one you do it in. If you're doing very complex or very large simulations then the payoff for using the new POP network is huge. gaurav
Some correct me if i am wrong. They are also much more Memory Efficient, earlier pops were linked lists in memory.
benne5
The new pops workflow is also synonymous with the increased use of VEX and wrangle node workflows. If you were used to the old school pops method it can take some getting used to. Given the efficiencies already mentioned in this thread, partnered with the strength of VEX, the new pops system is quite dynamic!
