angadrana
Hey, So I'm trying to import a 25 meters (in real life) wide tracked scene into houdini from syntheyes. The problem is that it gets imported as 200+ meter scene. I haven't done any scale modifications inside syntheyes and I don't know how to either. When I try to scale that inside Houdini with the scene scale null, it does scale down but then the objects parented to it have crazy transform values! I want to do a missile smoke trail in this scene and the pyro will get all messed up because of such transform values. How do I tackle such issues?
macj89
Never tried the workflow before, but we are going to start using houd/synth in the studio, so im interested in this. Sorry if i cant help yet, never opened syntheyes before. So..up!
StepbyStepVFX
Hi Guys, looks like a "double transform" problem. If your geometry lies into a Geo object node, try to look at the options in Modify Pre Transform tab. I think you must "bake" your transform values before scaling the scene. Maybe you can also scale each object individually, within the geo object node... Edited April 10, 2018 by StepbyStepVFX
Atom
You can scale your scene in Syntheyes, before you export. Check out one of the many video tutorials.
StepbyStepVFX
UPDATE : I don't know if you tried either the option I was talking about or solving the problem into Syntheyes directly as suggested by Atom, but maybe a third way is to merge all your imported geo, and then, into another geo object node, Object Merge everything, with the option Transform Into This Object. Then you scale that (should have cracked all transforms into world space, and should avoid double transformation... if that was the problem...).
