abvfx
Its says on IMDB that your still in post production, so.... nope hehe . Great job, i dont watch trailers, but i had to watch this. I wont be watching any more trailers, i now know for sure that this movie will be awesome (as if it wasnt gonna be). Are you guys still living by John Dkystra's moto, "The worst shot in this film has to be as good as the best shot in the last film". Its looks like your on that track. Well done guys. -andy
MIguel P
Great work, looks very nice! In which shots have you worked, Marc?
Marc
None of my shots made it into the trailer, but I'm on the sand team, so I'm doing similar stuff to what's in the trailer... Glad you like it
abvfx
Marc you know once this is show is done, that we will expect a lengthy article on the Houdini Customer stories. And it has to be twice as long as any other customer story on there. Cant wait to see this film, the visual alone make it a top notch movie, i know it will be backed with a decent story which im sure you guys are thrilled about. I hear most people work on films that are pretty poor or substandard, there are only a few gems like spiderman, king kong and xmen where the visual bar is just as high as the written one. Marc
Well I'd love to do a customer story, sadly however Sony decides who gets to talk about what was done on the film (in an official sense). Nothing stopping me from waxing lyrical about it here though . Steven can jump in too. M
stu
Very nicely done! Definately one of those "I wish I'd done that." moments.

keltuzar
is imageworks turning into a vfx/animation studio? The work from imageworks is amazing, but I am curious is the workforce get moved around the different areas aka animation to film or is it like one set team? Anyways Marc is imageworks using houdini soely for s3? If not then how do you use houdini in the film... I havent seen much shots of the sandman to fully appreciate it, but from what I have seen it does look awesome. btw someone uploaded this version of the trailer on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvuddPuAp9Q

Marc
Hey guys Well we won't be able to share anything until the show is done, it's all pretty hush hush at the moment. But I can say that we are using Houdini for most of the fx. As soon as it's out though, I'm sure we can continue this discussion . @keltuzar - Sony is pretty much a combination vfx/animation studio, and has been for a while. We've done the Polar Express, Monster House and Open Season here, and we're currently working on Beowulf, Surfs Up and Hotel Transylvania. The way it works is that all the animated movies are produced by SPA (Sony Pictures Animation) but made by SPI (Imageworks). So really we have the potential to work on an fx film or an animated film at any given time. There's no real division on who gets to work on what, it's not like you get locked into doing one or the other. Obviously some people have preferences and so that's what they mostly do. Cheers Marc
