keltuzar
are these folks gonna do a sort of "animation mentor" for tds? It would be cool if there did... Renee Tam and Rudy Cortes are some folks there too...
Marc
Looks like it, if you read the FAQ they mention 1 on 1 mentoring.
keltuzar
by 1-1 mentoring is very hazy, is it through a forum? Animation mentor has a web-flash based app where students use the webcams and theys a 1-1 discussion so its more helpful rather than typing on a forum...They do class discussions/critiques through the chat based system they have setup too.. edit... nvm they have a webcam setup http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php...697#post4098697 really nice indeed "Although we can not guarantee a job upon graduation, TD-Academy offers an obvious job placement advantage due to the fact that ALL TD-Academy’s mentors and directors are active professionals working in the VFX industry." This statement gets me... they dont guarantee a job, but "hey if we teach you we might give you an internship/job in the company we work " ad hook always gets to me. Even my school does the same thing and it boils my blood. I have learnt the ONLY way to get into this industry is to work on your own and do your best and never to rely on someone to get you the job you want. Also they offer a diploma, which might not be helpful if you are international and trying to get a working visa here in america... just putting it out there for those curious... Visual Cortex Lab
[...]I have learnt the ONLY way to get into this industry is to work on your own and do your best and never to rely on someone to get you the job you want. [...] I totally agree.... I did learnt it as well during last year... that said... I hope such "mentors school" did help a bit... because afaik such schools are all but cheap. I must admit that if I had the budget... i'd personally go for this TD classes.... as well as for the Sesi workshops ... but with the only idea to learn.. and not to find a job right after. my 0.
whalerider
Those courses are expensive, as are most 3D/VFX courses. $1,200 per course - that's equal to 1 year worth of training at fxphd.com for example (but fxphd is mostly compositing-oriented). I'd like to see some sample videos to see what teaching style those guys have and find out how much in-depth the instruction gets.
Andz
I know how much labor is involved in seting up things like this, etc.,etc. , but oh... how I wish learning was free for every one. I'm addicted to learn more and more, even stuff that I'll never have any use out of it, I'm just a really curious person i guess. I want to thank again Wolfwood for the Houdini book!
