7Losses
I am doing a simple animation of a bouncing ball but when I go to playback it seems to run very slowly. I've noticed that it is only chugging when the channel editor is open, when it is closed and I only have scene view up (and the ball de-selected) it runs smoothly My settings are to "maintain realtime playback" I changed to "play every frame" but get the same result. Any ideas on a solution? Cheers.
Marc
While there may be another solution... I just don't play animations with the channel editor open. Luckily for me I hardly ever keyframe things, so it doesn't bother me that much. Although if you're using it a lot then I can imagine it getting pretty annoying. JoshJ
I was planning to test a character pipeline in Houdini soon... and I didn't test this yet. Unless you control the character procedurally, you will need the channel editor open while animating. While there may be another solution... I just don't play animations with the channel editor open. Marc
oh yeah, I'm fully aware of that fact. In my experience the channel editor definitely slows down playback, so I'm just glad what I do doesn't require it to be open all the time. Someone who's done character work should chime in here, perhaps there are ways and means to speed things up a little that I'm not aware of. michael
hit the pause button... this will toggle "Interactive Updates" basically the animation will run but the UI (parameters, channel editor etc) will not update...
7Losses
Excellent! That works perfectly thanks! Will make animating enjoyable rather than a chore. Funny, I was looking the the "Pause key" on the animation bar took me a few seconds of thinking the realise it was the pause key on the keyboard For others that are wondering the toggle button is at the bottom right hand corner of the UI.
