Subsurface workflow ?

I'm a bit confused about the workflow I have to follow in order to use the SSS shaders.

I was told on the sidefx forum to use a sss_scater sop to generate a pointcloud, bake it and reuse it within the Sop.

I gave it a try but get some strange results as you can see here :

I also tried downloading a few scenes fro the sss_diaries, but the files I open often prompt errors within H9 apprentice and I usually end up with completely black output and a bit of specular light.

Could someone walk me through or provide a erally basic scene ?

Thanks

Drop an "sss scatter" sop in the end of your geometry.

Check that you're getting a good amount of points, put in a filename for

the pointcloud, hit enter.

In the waxSSS material enter the same pointcloud filename as above.

Works for me.

If you try the attached hip, remember to hit "render" in the sss scatter sop

before rendering the image proper.

Thanks a lot Eetu, tried your scene and it works like a charm.

I also followed your steps with a new scene and it works great as well.

I don't know what I was doing wrong. Maybe the problem came from my object which was converted from fluid simulation to polygons.

I'll try again tonight when I get back home
