stevenong
Have you tried searching through the Help docs on Digital Assets at all? Help menu > Houdini Help, scroll down to Digital assets and under Subtopics, I see "Lock, unlock, and edit digital assets". Personally, everyone should be allowed to edit the contents of a digital asset so you should be locking the .otl file instead so no one can overwrite it. I'm simplying things here but managing digital assets is not easy and everyone views it differently. However, if done properly, you won't have to worry about things like this. Cheers! steven
edward
select all the nodes in the HDA and Shift=D to hide them then just tell people not to unlock the HDA... You can add a special hopmanager.pref.nosave file in the HOUDINI_PATH that has SafeguardOpDefs set to 1. Then you can't even see the menu entry to unlock. See CustomizingHoudini under the "How Configuration Files Work" for more info on .nosave files.
