  1. Hello and welcome to this post. Synopsis: In nature, we see a phenomenon called tropism (the way a leaf orients itself towards the sun). I need help building a rig that will simulate this effect. These are the objectives: Create a source object acting as the reference point for tropism Get the leaf to orient itself in relation to the source Additional challenge: It would be ideal to shade the front and back face of the leaf with a different texture. What is a neat VOP setup which would simulate this? Here is a basic HIP file to begin messing around with. leafShading_Orient.hipnc
  2. Sup guys, What would be the best way to create a mesh from these lines? Scene file attached Leaf_v0102.hip
  3. this is my first post here, sorry if this has already been solved, i've got a speedtree alembic mesh with lots of leaves that don't have thickness, ive applied the principled shader and plugged an image for opacity and one for colour, but i want to add another one for translucency so that the sun light comes through the layers of leaves showing the veins and green-ness in the leaves, SSS would be the obvious answer but the leaves don't have thickness, and there's a lot of them (its a forest) is this possible with the principled shader? i know its relatively simple in MR, Arnold, redshift? thanks guys
  4. Hi, I'm having a ton of problem creating a realistic leaves for a personal project. Basically, what I'm having trouble with is getting good-looking translucency for my leaves. What I've tried: Custom shader with diffuse from both sides of leaves, Mantra surface with thin-film refraction (best results) and SpeedTree's shader. I haven't achieved anything I'm too happy with with any of these. So if you have any tips on how to deal with this, please fire away.
