hmm, i can't get the 'enabletearing' attribute working here. not as sop-created attribute and not with the help of a dop created multi-solver setup(cloth-/sop-solver).

did the attribute name change? i cant find any 12.5 related documentation either.

a little help would be much appreciated. =]

cheers,

-chris.

i'm afraid there is no tearing in latest solver (yet?). topics like "Creating other cloth effects" in 12.1 manual (http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini12.1/cloth/creating_other_cloth_effects) has gone in 12.5

and in 12.1 there were some dedicated options for plastic deformations but now should we just use high stiffness-dumping, strong bending etc?

it's very disappointing to see different cloth implementation in each Houdini, constantly changing the features and workflows in hope to get the best possible solution for VFX in terms of flexibility and speed

on one hand it seems to get better each time (subjectively of course), on other hand missing features we are used to can be very frustrating especially if there is no technical reason for them to not be included

so tearing, plastic hardening and promissed feedback checkbox seem to be magically missing in 12.5

let's give SESI time to get it right, it seems like they've just sent something out which wasn't fully finished

to the original question it seems that the second input is for Geometry Copy DOP only (not sure yet what purpose it has), if you need to use SOP Solver DOP just use it the standard way with Multisolver DOP
