anakin78z Posted August 9, 2004 Share Posted August 9, 2004 It's not terrible or anything, but I kind of liked the old one better. Something feels unbalanced about this one... too contrasty maybe? To heavy on the red? Some of the buttons are harder to read too. The reply button looks weird (what're those colors?). Not a big fan of the new honeycomb logo either. Sorry. However, I actualy don't mind some fresh change of the forum skin, tho. Speaking of contrasty, the red does look pretty read on my laptop monitor. On a typical CRT, I didn't mind it as much. So either everyone that doesn't like it hates it so much that they don't even know where to begin with the crits, or they're not willing to put in the time to make it better. Thanks Alex and Jens for the comments, based on your feedback its more the colours and the buttons that are the problem than the actual design and layout of the page. Correct? If so, then those are relatively easy to fix. If my laptops colours weren't so eff'd up then it would be super easy. The only thing I really not like is the new buttons for add reply, new topic, new poll, etc. Me thinks the old site was easier on the eye. At end of day, me not care too much because the informations on this website is more important to me than looks. I don't know if this was what you were aiming for but it has quite a retro feel, in a good way not in an "outdated" way. Might be worth trying out a few different reds if it isn't difficult to do, I think it's the main issue. I'm amazed that you find time to do all this, good work I say . I guess most people are a bit worried about causing offense if they don't like it, I think everyone knows you must put in heaps of hard work to set all this up and all for free and gratis. Maybe it would be possible to have a fiew different color scemes? Or even better, some Java Script that would pop up a color editor letting a user to choose whatever color he wants. TheDunadan Posted August 11, 2004 Share Posted August 11, 2004 We have quite a few new smilies :thumbsup: :bag: I think the new forum looks fine the way it is, I have a tendency to prefer less saturated colors and in particular the blueish/grey colors are my fav, but I'd rather see you doing a few more intresting posts than you spending lots of time on these minor visual aspects. Only thing that "bothers" me, is the way "CODE" stuff gets displayed, I'd prefer some monospaced font here and a slight box around the CODE box to seperate it even more from the rest of text wouldn't hurt either. I must say though that I am trying to stick to the original odforce colour scheme since everyone seemed to like that. So for the most part, blues and greens will be totally stepping away from the original colour palette. If I have to make my own comments here, I'd say that the red bothers me only because it looks so different on everyones' screens.
